The Mutations 7

Twilight opened her eyes, and noticed the gray loom of the world. The sun was at its zenith, but instead of bathing to world in warmth and beautiful colours, it just basked the world in an oven like head. She looked down as she began to sweat, and paused in shock. The garden was like a wasteland. There was nothing but death surrounding her. It was as if the sun had baked the world of everything good in it. There was no water, the only thing with colour were the grey statues, which was depressing in its own right. Discord whistled, "Whew, the heat here is stifling! That solar flare isn't doing her precious world any good. And there's nothing to mess around with, she destroyed it all!" He said, appearing dismayed at the lack of materials for chaos.

"W-What do we do now?" Twilight sat down, gazing with bleak disappointment. She didn't know what to do, and her friends weren't around to help her…"Hey, don't go gray on me now Twilight. We still need to get rid of this solar flare so I can have some fun! Don't you hate homework?" That last comment snapped Twilight out of her stupor and she stuttered "Homework?!" She turned and gazed at him, incredulous. Discord grinned "What? You thought I was doing this 'out of the good of my heart?' Ha! You have to be kidding." Twilight stood up and glared at him before gazing around for something, anything she could use to help her.

Suddenly a ragtag bunch of ponies appear from nowhere, covered in clothes designed to make them blend in with the ground. They held pointed sticks at Twilight and Discord and said "Come with us or be killed." Twilight gazed to Discord, who shrugged and said "Well, at least we've found something in this dead land." Twilight nodded, and turned to look back at the ponies whom gaze up at discord, scowls on their faces. As they were escorted away, Twilight dearly wished for her friends… She blinked as a sight of colour glimpsed through the clothes and hard hats the ponies were wearing.

Shaking her head she felt herself nearly laugh out loud. She was slap happy? Why was she so….amused by the sight of a single colour? Discord leaned in and said "I saw one of those ponies showing some colour, maybe he's a hippie." It was the worst joke Discord had ever told, but still Twilight had to catch her breath before she laughed. Shaking her head she quickly discarded any thoughts. Discord continued to grin and say "nice to see I can cause Some chaos in this dreary world."

As they walked, Twilight noticed they passed thought an old and crumbling city after tracking down the mountain. She gazed at it confused, was that….Ponyville? As they walked she noticed the ponies glancing toward the sky warily. Suddenly the ponies swore and dragged them into an abandoned building with a roof on it and told them "Be quiet or we're all dead!" Discord grinned, but said nothing as they huddled and waited. Twilight preened her ears and listened in.

Thud! She heard the sounds of hoofs landing in the dust, and the slow steps of someone who had all the time in the world. "I remember this little town now…Those six ponies lived there. Ah yes, 4 dead, one in stone and one leading some kind of resistance…YOU HEAR ME PONIES!!!?" Twilight nearly jumped in fright, it was Celestia!! No wait, not Celestia. It was Solar Flare now. She glanced to Discord, and blinked, he was looking at the door seriously for once. His eyes widened and he flicked his fingers.

Suddenly Twilight felt had and square, and everything went black. She could hear though. And she heard something jump into their small room and something like a horn with a powerful spell ready. "To the mooo-Oh?" The voice paused in confusion. "But there was someone here! I know there was." Another pause, and then the steps of a pony leaving "It's alright; I must have imagined it from those….first months here.

Suddenly she was….herself again. She saw Discord walk forward a few steps and gaze seriously at the door as the sounds of a Pegasus lifting off are heard, and then silence reigns. He turns and the camouflaged ponies get their bearings. "Let's get going before she gets back." The ponies begin escorting Twilight and Discord again, and Twilight blinks as they head towards an old hiding hole she had used once before…When Luna-or the not Luna had brought them back from that strange dimension.

As they headed down the hole, she saw different turns, and multiple passageways. She was soon lost and when they were finally there it took her a moment before she realised where she was. It was a enormous cavern with gems in the ceiling to light the cavern. There were ponies, and the thing that amazed her was the fact that they seemed almost…happy. Even though they had haunted looks about them, there was a shaky peace about it.

Twilight gazed around and thought over what had happened, and her head swam. She had so many unanswered questions, it was driving her insane. A voice spoke up, but it wasn't discord. But she could feel the warmth from the voice, the rainbow coloured concern. "Someone grab her! She's going to faint!" As the world slid to the side she couldn't help but smile as blackness descended upon her.

"Discord….Don't do such jokes…There's no way Dash is here…"
"Twilight?"
"Oh boy, I should have brought some popcorn. Oh wait! I can make some from dirt!!"
